A New Approach to State History!

The State Chronicles is an updated, fresh and fully inclusive suite of engaging educational resources for the teaching and learning of state history as part of the America250 commemorations culminating in 2026.

Thanks to a generous philanthropic donation, school resource kits for teaching state history are being created for 6 of the first 13 states. These kits will be offered as free digital resources to the schools, educators, and students in these states. Printed editions will also be available for purchase.

The State Chronicles is a collaborative partnership between The Bridgewater State University Foundation, and What on Earth Publishing LLC.

In addition to the free digital platform, all the State Chronicles resources will be available for purchase in the following printed formats:

  • Hardback-bound, 72-page books for use in schools - priced at $24.95 each

  • Staple-bound, 72-page newspaper editions of the same content for individual use - priced at $10 each

  • Giant, 12-foot long laminated timelines for mounting on classroom walls - priced at $49.95 each

  • A Teacher’s Guide containing a range of cross-curricular activity suggestions for Grades 4-8 and links to state social studies standards - priced at $9.99 each

Special bulk purchase prices are available on request.

Each book/newspaper will contain more than 60 highly engaging and stunningly designed journalistic articles that chart key moments in the history of each state from earliest times to the present day.

This is followed by a 100-moment timeline (divided into themes such as science, human rights, society, and biography), a state history fact file, places to visit, and an honor roll. More than 50 QR codes will be included in the resources that provide direct links to enrichment resources online including primary sources, maps, speeches and videos.

All State Chronicle resources are being produced in collaboration with key state storytelling museums and cultural institutions in conjunction with the America250 State Commissions.

For a sample, please see The Massachusetts Chronicles, produced here as a hardback book for use in classrooms and as a newspaper for individual use as part of the Plymouth400 commemorations in 2020.

For any other State Commissions that may wish to join the State Chronicles project and have these resources specially developed for their states in time for 2026, please contact us immediately for information on how this can be arranged or email info@statechronicles.com
